about

Following the announcement of her support for Willaris. K on his Nationwide tour, Montreal 2016 Red Bull Music Academy producer Beatrice (Haiku Hands, Kardajala Kirridarra) releases her stunning debut single Grid. A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer, Beatrice weaves compelling electronic urgency through every beat and bar on this assured release taken from her forthcoming EP.

Recently named one of “Melbourne producers that owned 2017” by Beat Magazine, Beatrice has collaborated with pioneering electronic artists including Suzanne Ciani, Theo Parrish, Just Blaze, Deradoorian (The Dirty Projectors) and supported genre heavy weights including Machine Drum, Shigeto, Mark Pritchard, Lapalux, Eprom and Shades. A recent addition to the Operatives roster and a rising performer on the Australian festival circuit she has performed at most major electronic music festivals the likes of Let Them Eat Cake, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Rainbow Serpent amongst others. She also co-wrote the original score for the recent groundbreaking documentary Her Sound, Her Story.

A founding member and key writer of chart-soaring four piece Haiku Hands, she’s been cutting loose to bass-heavy hip-hop and post-punk influenced workouts on festival stages including The Great Escape, Dot to Dot, Splendour in the Grass, St Jerome's Laneway, Pitch, Curve Ball, Groovin the Moo, Panama and more. Working with some of Australia’s finest writers and producers including Hermitude, Joelistics, Jaytee Hazard and Lewis Can Cut, the collective has received global attention with singles Not About You and Jupiter.

Beatrice is also the main producer in Kardajala Kirridarra (Sandhill Women), a band born from her work over the past five years as a workshop facilitator in the NT and strong advocacy for Indigenous woman’s music. Since releasing their debut album in 2017 the group has performed at Sugar Mountain, Golden Plains Festival, MONA FOMA and BIGSOUND, earned six feature albums at Australian radio, and nominations for a J Award plus Album of the Year at 2018 National Indigenous Music Awards.

With so much already under her belt it’s hard to believe this unique Australian producer is just getting started.
